Tartsunk lépést az új generációkkal!
Iskolánk Vác városának egyik meghatározó és jó nevű általános iskolája. Fő profilja az angol nyelv és az informatika emelt szintű, tagozatos csoportokban való oktatása. Az itt folyó munka minőségi alapfeltétele a nyelvtanítás és a technika legújabb vívmányaiban, ezek módszertani alkalmazásában jártas pedagógus, aki a tanulók motiválásához hajlandó a tanulókat érdeklő eszközöket a tanórákra adaptálni. Ezek megvalósításához jelentkezett tantestületünkből hat fő. A tanfolyamok kiválasztásának egyik fő szempontja az volt, hogy olyan módszertani képzéseken vegyünk részt, amelyek az IKT eszközök, szoftverek, programok széles skálájával ismertetik meg a résztvevőket és képessé teszik őket, hogy ezeket integrálják a meglévő tanítási eszköztárukba.
A hagyományos frontális oktatást ki kell, hogy egészítse a napjaink elengedhetetlenné vált digitális eszközeinek használata a tanítási-tanulási folyamatban. Ezek együttes használata mind a tanár, mind a diák munkáját megkönnyíti. A játékosság, az újdonság frissítően hat a tanulási folyamatokra. A kurzusokon megismert alkalmazások lehetőséget adnak a differenciálásra, az önálló munkára, az azonnali visszacsatolásra, értékelésre. Egyéni kutatómunkára ösztönözhetik a diákokat az új módszerek. Az egyes tantárgyak közötti koncentrációra is nagyobb hangsúly kerül. A technikai eszközök tudatos alkalmazása nemcsak a tanórákon, hanem az otthoni tanulás során is fokozatosan előtérbe kerül.
A projektben részvevő tanáraink közül ketten Máltán, egy fő Írországban, Dublinban, egy fő az Egyesült Királyságban, Canterbury-ben és egy fő Olaszországban, Firenzében IKT eszközök, digitális technikák tanórai használatát, ezek beépítését a tanulási-tanítási folyamatba bemutató tanfolyamokon vesz részt, egy fő pedig az Egyesült Királyságban, Cambridge-ben az alsó tagozatos diákok oktatásával kapcsolatos újabb módszerekkel, technikákkal ismerkedik. A külföldi kollégákkal kialakított szakmai kapcsolatok lehetővé teszik a hosszú távú együttműködést és a jövőbeni közös pályázatokban (pl. KA2, szakmai látogatás) való részvételt.
Iskolánk elvárja a projekt résztvevőitől, hogy megszerzett ismereteiket, tapasztalataikat a lehető legszélesebb körben továbbadják. Ennek megvalósítására disszeminációs terv készült, melyben pontosan ütemezve nyomon követhető a kurzusok utáni megbeszélés a résztvevők között, a munkaközösségi, tantestületi szintű beszámolók, bemutató órák a kistérség pedagógusai számára, publikációk az iskola honlapjára és a helyi médiába, műhelymunkák rendje.
Iskolánk vezetése és tantestületünk úgy gondolja, hogy a továbbképzéseken való részvétel elengedhetetlen a szakmai fejlődéshez, hitelességhez és szerves része az egy életen át tartó tanulási folyamatnak.
Let's keep pace with the new generations!
Our project’s title – Let’s keep pace with the new generations! – refers to the change that is generated by the appearance of digital devices in our life. If we intend to keep pace with the youngest generations, it is essential for us to change attitude and aspects in the teaching process. So we can enrich our knowledge into education to make us capable of integrating devices, which are favoured by young people. Our school’s main profiles are teaching English language and IT in small groups at very high standards. These also require teachers with authentic and up-to-date knowledge. The main aspect of choosing the courses was to find the ones that present the wide range of interesting iTools, software and programmes and enable the participants to integrate them into their everyday routine of teaching.
The participants of our project with – at least - basic ICT skills and the required level of English teach different subjects like English, P.E., History, Maths or junior pupils. They were supported by the school management and the colleagues during the preparation period with information including travelling, insurance, ICT vocabulary or revising English.
The courses were completed in different countries: three in Malta, one in Ireland, one in Italy and one in the United Kingdom.
As our school is getting equipped with modern technology, so the aim was to transform our digital competence into positive dimensions and to improve our communicative, cooperative and social competences, and of course to become more confident and initiative. Our expectation was to acquire useful teaching ideas and establish new professional contacts with the foreign colleagues too. We hoped to be able to cooperate in Erasmus+ or eTwinning projects in the future. It was important to find new methods: we considered that the traditional frontal work in the classroom must be expanded with the usage of digital tools. The adaptation of these tools and their software makes the teacher's work easier, while the students become more motivated and active even in the lessons or with their homework.
The main focus in five of the six courses based on the usage of digital devices in the teaching process. The applications, programmes and educational webpages that were introduced to the participants offered a wide range of activities for differentiating, individual work, immediate feedback and evaluation. One of the courses provided a general characteristic of the X-, Y-, Z-generations. The participant’s toolbox was expanded with the method of integrating the Internet and iTools into education.
According to our school’s expectations and the dissemination plan, the participants shared their gained experience and knowledge with the teachers of local and regional schools. As the effect and result of our project, it is not only the participants, but also many of our staff members teaching view has changed: instead of prohibiting we started to put emphasis on teaching the useful application of tablets, smartphones and computers. Students became more interested and motivated and capable to use digital tools independently. The taken measurements during this school year also support this positive change.
In the field of international partnerships two projects have been started in the framework of eTwinning with Spanish, Portuguese and Italian schools.
Producing quality in education requires teachers who are familiar with the latest results of language teaching and constantly changing technology. They possess the essential methodological knowledge and are capable to integrate these in the teaching and learning process to make their lessons enjoyable for their students. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, which provided us this opportunity, we have managed to complete our task as part of life-long learning.
